Citroen has released the first images and details of the new cabriolet version of the DS3 which will take centre stage on its stand at the Paris Motor Show. Citroen Australia says the new model will join the local lineup in Spring next year.
Typical Citroen, the soft-top is a clever piece of design, maintaining the same level of interior quietness as the regular DS3 hatchback and adding only 25kgs to the overall weight. The roof takes just 16 seconds to operate and you can do so at speeds up to 120km/h.
Also typical Citroen, style takes a top priority and the soft-top itself will be available in a choice of three colours – black, blue and a ‘DS3 Monogrammed’ design.
Incorporating the soft top required a new rear tailgate and rear lights for the good-looking Citroen DS3. Citroen says the DS3 Cabriolet’s 245-litre boot capacity is the largest in its class and – unusually for a convertible – the 60’40 split-fold rear seat is retained.
Inside, the soft-top DS3 is distinguished by white lighting around the instruments, LED ambient lighting, new upholstery colours and new paint finishes which are colour-coded to the exterior paint. The DS3 Cabriolet, just like its hatchback sibling is a five-seater.
On the outside, deflectors on the quarter-light surrounds and a larger front spoiler aren’t just for show – they contribute to the Citroen DS3 Cabriolet matching the hatchback model for aerodynamic efficiency.
Citroen Australia will announce the local specifications and prices next year
