Citroen’s all-new luxury mid-size DS5 hatchback is now on-sale priced from $47,990.
While a hatchback, the elegantly-styled Citroen DS5 is a genuine mid-sizer which competes in Europe’s D-segment with vehicles like the Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Honda Accord. Top Gear UK named the Citroen DS5 its ‘2012 Family Car Of The Year’ so it arrives in Australia with some expectation.
Space sounds impressive with Citroen claiming the five-seat DS5 affords a handy 465-litres of luggage space.
Safety gets a big tick too – the Citroen DS5 ranked at the maximum five-star rating following Euro NCAP barrier testing.
Power comes from Citroen’s 115kw/240Nm, turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which was co-developed with BMW. Drive is via a six-speed automatic transmission and fuel consumption (combined cycle) is rated at 7.3l/100kms.
Equipment levels are high, in the usual Citroen way and the DS5 boasts a three-section glass sunroof with each section having its own sun-blind. As well, there is a cooled compartment to store food and drinks, colour head-up display and Xenon headlights.
