PSA Group certainly has compact city cars on its mind with news the all-new Citroen C1 will join its close relatives the Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo in making their global debuts next week at the Geneva Motor Show.

And while the Toyota version isn’t a goer for Australia (locally Toyota takes the Japanese Yaris as its compact car), there has been ‘donuts’ from Syme-Derby Australia (local importer for Peugeot and Citroen) about the C1 (they say the Peugeot 108 is under consideration).

What we know from France is the Citroen C1 is a good-looker with a sophisticated front-end dominated by funky, high-mounted headlights (no impact absorbing bumper over-riders like the Peugeot 108) and a stylish rear, which – like the Peugeot – features a deep-set all-glass hatchback.

And, again like the 108, the all-new Citroen C1 will be offered in Europe in three-door, five-door and three or five-door cabriolet models (the fabric roof in red, black or grey).

The compact all-new Citroen C1 weighs-in at just 840kgs and measures just 3480mm in length, 1620mm in width and stands 1450mm tall. Inside is seating for five and a luggage space up to 780-litres (rear seat folded).

Citroen France says the C1 will be sold with either a 60kW/118Nm 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine or a 50kW, 1.0-litre petrol with staggering combined cycle fuel consumption of just 3.7l/100kms.
