Chrysler and NASA have signed a three-year agreement for technology and resource sharing to focus on the development of new and emerging technologies.
“The alliance allows Chrysler Group and NASA to tap into existing and emerging space exploration and automotive technologies. The shared knowledge will be used in their respective activities,” Chrysler said.
Already on the job list for the joint venture partners are: materials engineering, robotics, radar, battery systems and other energy storage mediums.
The two American greats have a history. In 1961, Chrysler built Redstone Rockets for the Mercury Project - which put the first American into space - and also boosters to power the first two Apollo spacecraft into earth orbit, including the program’s first manned mission in 1968.
And there is now doubt the 316kW/569Nm V8-powered Chrysler 300C SRT8 is a rocket!
