The A90 Toyota Supra isn’t exactly lacking in the looks department, subjective as that may be. It may not be as reverential to its immediate predecessor as some would like, but it certainly is a visual success to most would-be buyers.

But like any Toyota that has any potential for enthusiast interest, the company’s speciality aftermarket and performance division TRD have now stepped in to offer even more for the flair to the BMW-powered rear-drive coupe.

With Toyota Racing Development now officially throwing their hand into the fire with these (mostly) carbon fibre and mostly functional accessories, we do wonder how long before the Japanese automaker’s more focused motorsport arm, GRMN, will step in. However, that will likely come in the form of a yet sportier and more powerful variant altogether.

What we see here is the fulfilment of a concept that TRD had teased earlier this year with the  Supra Performance Line Concept, and it looks like every new addition there has carried over into a purchasable set of CRFP (carbon fibre reinforced polymer) kits.

When working in tandem, will indeed impact the Supra’s aerodynamic profile, endowing it with increased stability at high speed and more traction while cornering as well as lowering ride height by 4mm. However, the diffuser lowers ground clearance even more thanks to its vertical fins that channel air from the undercarriage, making it 24mm closer to the ground at its lowest point.

That is also in addition to look rather fetching regardless of functionality as these kinds of things do have a habit of going too far with the boy race motif.

On top of that, TRD also offers a new set of lightweight wheels to complete the package. These are 20-spoke units that measure 19-inches in diameter, staggered for added width at the rear, and come equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.

Of course, there are no mechanical changes made to the Supra’s engine nor its suspension, maintaining the car’s talented balance of sharpness and daily drivability. The B58 turbocharged inline-6 generates 250kW and 500Nm which is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed ZF-sourced automatic, as before, and these new TRD bits will likely be too minor to improve upon the quoted 4.4 second century sprint time.

The question remains, however, when will TRD make these accessories available globally and how soon will they arrive for Australian consumption?
