Your CarShowroom correspondent is one of less than handful of Australians who have actually driven a Bugatti Veyron and we can confidently say it is the best car of its type – even after eight years of production.
Now comes news of the first of six, limited edition ‘Legend’ model Veyrons.
Based on the current ‘Grand Sport Vitesse’ model, the ‘Bugatti Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille is named after the two-time Le Mans winner and Bugatti test driver.
Only three examples are scheduled for production and Volkswagen-owned Bugatti says the other five ‘Legend’ models will also be named after someone synonymous with the brand’s history.
On the outside the Bugatti Veyron Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille is painted light blue with blue carbon fibre (colours mirroring the 1937 Le mans-winning Bugatti 57G) – and Bugatti fans will note the unique colour scheme provides a look which is noticeably different to the regular Veyron paint finish.
Bugatti says the interior has been given a unique style as well.
No changes to the driveline with the limited edition Veyron employing the stunning 895kW W16 engine with its four turbocharges and remarkable exhaust note.
Word on the street is there is currently one Bugatti Veyron in Australia, owned by a private collector in NSW.
