BMW Australia General Manager of Marketing Toni Andreevski has all but confirmed that the BMW X7 will be making it way to Australia when it goes in to production from 2016.
Speaking to CarShowroom.com.au Andreevski said “BMW Australia is very much looking forward to having car like the X7 in Australia.”
When the X7 goes in to production it will be the first ever dedicated 7-seater from the Germany company. The latest BMW X5 has an optional third row, but is really only suitable for kids on short trips.
The BMW X7 was first confirmed for production earlier this year when BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer was announcing the increase in capacity for their Spartanburg plant in the USA. Along with announcing an increase in production to 450,000 vehicles Reithofer said “With the BMW X7, we are developing another, larger X model, which we will produce at our U.S. plant for our world markets – once again underscoring our commitment to the U.S.”
The BMW X5 is by no means the largest in the premium SUV segment, but with the arrival of the much larger BMW X7 it will allow BMW to compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Glass and the yet to be officially announced Audi Q8.
