The sinister twins.

BMW, in its continued efforts to refine products to appeal to every possible corner of the market, has released a special edition line for both the X5M and X6M high-performance SUVs, dubbed ‘Black Fire.’ While the name is cringeworthy, the cars themselves are not, adding a dash of evil to a pair of already angry cars.

On sale in the UK in August, the Black Fire SUVs share their mechanicals with the less-sinister X5M and X6M, packing a 4.4-litre petrol V8 engine, producing a mammoth 422kW and 750Nm, going to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. They’ll do the century sprint in just 4.2-seconds, before topping out at an electronically-limited 250km/h.

The ‘Black Fire’ name alludes more to the aesthetically changes, which are finished in black (but are not on fire). This black treatment comes in the form of the paint finish, a unique Sapphire Black Metallic shade, a black grille with black louvres, and mirror caps in carbon fibre. There are also black alloy wheels measuring 21-inches in diameter, with the front wheels measuring in at 10-inches wide while the rears are 1.5-inches wider still.

The cabin has not been spared the Black Fire treatment, and sees the seats finished in black and red leather, a headliner in anthracite, M-Sport front pews with electric adjustment and integrated headrests, and high-gloss black trim.

It’s thus far unclear whether or not these models will make it to our shores, but we can assure you that if they do, they’ll be unmistakable on the roads.
