BMW has announced the all-new X4 SUV – the fifth model in the BMW X team – will be priced from $69,900 when it goes on-sale in July.

As you can see, the all-new BMW X4 is related to the X6 more than the X5.

But underneath, the all-new mid-size BMW X4 is based on the current X3 model.

“The X4 will follow in the footsteps of the X6 which has enjoyed unprecedented success worldwide by fulfilling the requirements of customers who desire premium motoring with a point of difference – a sporty, coupe styled SAV,” explained BMW Australia chief Phil Horton.

With its low coupe-styled roofline, the all-new BMW X4 delivers the standout looks we know from the X6 and up-front there’s a new look for the classic BMW style with the hallmark four round lights scoring a flattened top edge. BMW says this new look is intended to exaggerate the width of the X4.

The front also sees the latest interpretation of the traditional BMW kidney grille and lots of cool air intakes for a sporty look.

Inside is the usual BMW style and the X4 will have great appeal to families with lots of space and impressive cargo capacity. The rear seat split-folds 40:20:40 and luggage capacity ranges from 500l to 1,400l.

And despite the swooping roofline, the all-new BMW X4 doesn’t short-change on passenger comfort – the seating position is raised (front and rear seats only 20mm and 28mm lower than the X3) and the three-person rear seat has two coupe-style individual seats.

The all-turbocharged engine choice is two petrol (four-cylinder 135kW/270NmxDrive 20i and six-cylinder 225kW/400Nm xDrive 35i) and two diesel (four-cylinder 140kW/400Nm xDrive 20d and six-cylinder 190kW/560Nm xDrive 30d). All drive via BMW’s excellent eight-speed automatic transmission.

BMW Australia has delivered very sharp priced across the lineup with the all-new X4 said to provide more than $9,000 worth of kit compared to equivalent X3 models. The X4 xDrive 35i is a standout, coming standard with the M Sport package including 20-inch alloy wheels, M aerodynamics package, Anthracite roofline, M steering wheel, aluminium trim highlights, 16-speaker Harman/Kardon audio and dynamic damper control for the sports suspension.

The X4 will be launched with BMW’s version of capped price servicing called BMW Service Inclusive and BMW Service Inclusive Plus.

The range is:
xDrive 20i $69,900
xDrive 20d $73,400
xDrive 30d $83,900
xDrive 35i $87,900
