For the seventh consecutive year, the BMW Group has topped the automotive brands in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In fact BMW is the only automotive company to appear in the listings every year since they began in 1999.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the result of the Zurich-based SAM Group analyses of the economic, environmental and social performance of around 2,500 global companies.
BMW appointed the industry’s first environmental officer way back in 1973 and sustainability is an integral part of the German giant’s corporate strategy across all of its brands – BMW, Rolls-Royce and MINI.
“Being ranked sector leader for the last seven years underscores our corporate strategy and approach. I would like to thank all of our 95,000 employees whose day-to-day work makes this progress possible,” said BMW’s Chairman Dr Norbert Reithofer.
