One BIG nostril.
German marque BMW is just a few days away from unveiling its first-ever mass-produced electric car, the iX3. Based loosely on the X3 SUV that already exists, the new car is expected to retain a familiar shape and overall design, though thanks to its all-electric nature, it probably will look a lot more futuristic.
BMW took to Twitter, the platform favoured for earth-shattering announcements from your teenage sister all the way to Donald Trump, to tease the upcoming car ahead of its big debut.
What we know for sure is that the BMW iX3 will be offered in 30e, 40e, and 50e guises, with battery packs that range from 60kWh to 120kWh depending on specification. The iX3 will be joined by the all-electric MINI as the first en masse electric vehicles from the BMW Group, with the BMW i4 expected to roll around sometime in the next decade.
While BMW is pegging the iX3 slated for Beijing as a concept, we’re expecting it to seem more production ready than your typical concept car, though a degree of over-the-top-ness is also expected to highlight the all-electric nature of the new car.
When the iX3 does make its production debut, it’ll have to duke it out with a myriad of other electric crossovers in the same segment. The Mercedes-Benz EQ cars come immediately to mind, as well as Jaguar’s I-Pace and the upcoming Tesla Model Y.
