BMW’s excellent X3 mid-size SUV has gone sporty with the all-new X4 revealed in Europe and due in Australia later this year.
Styling follows the theme of the BMW X6 with a high roof above the front seat which tapers to a dramatic rear. BMW says occupants in the sporty X4 actually sit 20mm lower than in the X3.
In Europe, the all-new BMW X4 will be offered with a choice of three petrol engines and three diesels. Topping the billing is the 225kW/400Nm X4 35i and included in the diesel lineup is the new-generation X4 20d with its 2.0-litre engine driving through an eight-speed automatic transmission and delivering 140kW/400Nm and combined cycle fuel consumption as low as 5.0l/100kms.
Inside is the usual armada of BMW technologies including a colour head-up display, Lane Departure Warning and Active Cruise Control with ConnectedDrive Services on the options list.
