BMW has extended its collaboration with famed Italian designers for the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Last year it was Zagato and this year it was Pininfarina and the car is the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe.
Just ridiculously stylish, this vehicle is a one-off exclusive interpretation of a luxo coupe and, for BMW, the chance to gain another, Italian spin on luxury and exclusivity.
Sure there are the hallmark BMW proportions – the set-back glasshouse, long wheelbase and stretched bonnet – but Pininfarina has gone for elegance and taut contours to imbue its traditional luxury Italian style.
The V12-powered coupe gets the BMW grille, but with a twist – it slants forwards. The round headlights too are BMW not-negotiables. There’s also a deep front spoiler and exotic materials for the highlights.
Shoulders are broad and sweep rearwards from the front vender air extractor vents.
The rear is very unusual two shaped struts extending the roofline to the rear.
Inside, the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe is simply breathtaking – Foglizzo leather in ‘Tobacco Brown’, and 48,000 year-old kauri wood from New Zealand. All the wood elements come from one piece of kauri wood selected by Riva from Italy.
And the roof-lining is grey plaid from Italian virgin wool.
File this one under ‘N’ for ‘Not For Production’…but wow! – how stylish is this car?
