It’s as simple as this: CarShowroom reckons the stunning M6 Gran Coupe is hands-down the most beautifully styled BMW so far. Now on-sale in Australia, the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is worth every cent of its $299,500 sticker price.

The third member of the M6 range, the Gran Coupe is unique in offering the convenience of four doors but of course shares the wonderful M TwinPower Turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine which delivers 412kW between 6000 and 7000rpm (redline 7200 rpm in this high-revving masterpiece) and peak torque of 680Nm between 1500 and 5750rpm. Drive is via BMW’s seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with launch Control and Low Speed Assistance plus steering wheel paddle-shifters for manual changes and an Active M (limited slip) Differential.

For zero to 100km/h you can chalk-up 4.2 seconds (that’s in the ‘Supercar’ window) and combined cycle fuel consumption is listed at 9.9l/100kms.

Part of that fuel consumption story is reduced weight and the BMW M6 Gran Coupe certainly leans on the latest in high-tech materials and construction to tip the scales at 1950kgs. The roof is made from carbon fibre, the front guards are from thermoplastic while the doors and bonnet are aluminium.

To accommodate the extra doors, the BMW M6 Gran Coupe runs a 2964mm wheelbase (113mm longer than the M6 coupe. There’s also a unique carbon fibre diffuser under the rear bumper.

But it’s the pure ‘Curb Appeal’ of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe which knocks us for ‘six’. The low roofline, classic ‘M’ gills, the latest rendition of the hallmark kidney grille and the mucho 20-inch M light-alloy wheels…well it’s a stunner, no doubt about it.

Inside is all the ‘M’ luxury and technology in five seats and beautifully trimmed in Merino leather with an anthracite colour Alcantara roof liner which matches the recessed central groove of the carbon fibre roof panel.

Coming soon is an optional ‘Competition Package’ for the BMW M6 Gran Coupe which adds an extra 11kW under the bonnet as well as revised suspension and driving dynamics, sports exhaust and different 20-inch wheels.

File this one under ‘W’ for wow!
