The spectacular BMW M4 Convertible has hit local dealerships priced at $178,430.
It’s a safe bet the 317kW/550Nm BMW M4 – the latest chapter in a five generation history - will be the ‘must-have’ open-top for this summer in places like the Sunshine Coast, Sydney’s Palm Beach and Portsea in Melbourne.
BMW Australia says the gorgeous M4 Convertible boasts significantly better equipment than the outgoing 3-Series version- and this means value is actually some $10,800 better.
As we know from our test drives on two race circuits in New Zealand, the BMW M4 is a seriously good steer with kit such as the Active M differential, Adaptive M suspension, mixed-size 19-inch alloy wheels and M Dynamic Mode in the DSC to keep things ticking-over nicely in the twisty stuff.
Styling shares the same purposeful sportiness as the M4 coupe with the power dome bonnet, flared wheel arches and twin-stalk exterior mirrors to identify this as a BMW ‘M’ model.
And like the coupe, the BMW M4 Convertible saves weight thanks to aluminium panels and extensive use of carbon-fibre (the latter even used for the tailshaft).
The three-section folding roof operates in 20 seconds at speeds up to 18km/h.
Inside too is punctuated by the hallmark ‘M’ extras and there’s a neck-warmer integrated into the front seat backrests.
Driving through a seven-speed ‘M’ double-clutch transmission, the newly developed turbocharged six-cylinder engine punches the BMW M4 Convertible from zero to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds.
