BMW Australia has juiced-up the 1 Series range with the addition of the turbocharged 125i model and availability of an M Sport package.
The BMW 125i employs BMW’s turbocharged 2.0-litre powerplant delivering 160kW at 5,000rpm and 310Nm from 1,350rpm. Driving the rear wheels via a six=speed manula transmission, the potent hot hatch accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.
Over regular 1 Series models, the 125i receives 17-inch star spoke alloy wheels, variable servotronic sports steering and a sports leather steering wheel.
The M Sport package is very good value. You get M sports suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and an extra ‘Sport+’ setting in the electronics plus aerodynamic enhancements, M leather steering wheel, sports seats in Dakota leather and anthracite headliner. For a bit more you can opt for M Sport brakes and Adaptive M suspension.
