BMW Australia have taken the covers off the stunning the BMW i8 in Sydney. The BMW i8 can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and can reach a top speed under electric power only of 120km/h. When combined with the 1.5-litre, 170 kW/320 Nm BMW TwinPower Turbo engine kicks in the BMW i8 can reach 250km/h.
And here’s the really exciting news: When the electric and petrol are combined the BMW i8 produces 266kW/570Nm BMW not pad from an hybrid sports car! Carshowroom.com.au has seen the BMW i8 testing in Los Angeles, California a few months back and we are excited that it has been confirmed for Australian sales.
Once you have charged you BMW via the BMW i Wallbox (1 hour 45 minutes) or via a domestic 10amp socket (2 hour 30 minutes) the BMW i8 can complete about 35 kilometres under electric power and has a combined range in excess of 500kms. On the combined fuel cycle the BMW i8 uses only 2.1-L/100km AND HAS A C02 output of just 49 grams.
BMW Australia plans to have a i8 demonstrator car here by December with local deliveries scheduled from March. No prices have been revealed as yet.
