BMW Driver Training Moves to Phillip Island

As part of a major overhaul of its operations, BMW Australia's highly commended advanced driver program, BMW Driver Training, is shifting its base to Victoria's Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.

Courses will also be run at Eastern Creek (NSW) and Lakeside (Queensland).

Run by BMW Group Australia, using a curriculum developed by BMW M GmbH in Germany, the chief instructor is former IMSA sports car racing champion, Geoff Brabham.

For 2010, a new lineup of cars will also feature - including the 225kW, twin-turbo 135i Sport Coupe and M Sport twin-turbo diesel 123d Sport Hatch.

Courses are offered for young drivers (under 25), Advanced and Intensive. All cover driving techniques and emergency simulations.

'A number of changes have been implemented for 2010 to further improve BMW's long-running Driver Training program and improve safety on Australian roads,' explained Mr Stavros Yallouridis, Managing Director of BMW Group Australia. 'The program will continue to offer customers and prospective customers the opportunity to excite the senses and educate the mind whilst giving people a taste of the latest technology and safety in true BMW fashion.'
