To help with demand, BMW Australia has managed charm its way to an extra 100 units of M2 Coupes fresh from Germany.
The BMW M2 has been such a local favourite among those who are lucky enough to be able to afford one, but those who were left in the lurch when the initial batch of 300 units allocated for Australia were sold out can rejoice.
BMW Australia has managed to secure an extra 100 units of the sports coupe. That said, its certainly not many enough to as customers have had existing bookings that stretched well into 2017 for their chance to own the M2, but it will surely help.
BMW Group Australia CEO Marc Wener said: “The BMW M2 has enjoyed extremely positive reviews since its media launch at Targa Tasmania,” said Marc Werner, BMW Group Australia Chief Executive Officer.
“Securing these additional vehicles – a supply increase of up to 33 per cent – is a huge achievement for BMW Australia and reflects strong support from the global BMW family,”
“We’re delighted to be able to respond to Australian customer and market demand so quickly with these extra vehicles.”
Hopefully, the bulk of backlog Australian M2 orders will be reduced by the end of 2016 which is when BMW expects the majority of deliveries to be met by production capacities.
Buyers here can choose from the manual-only M2 Pure for $89,900 or the regular M2 which is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for $98,900. Both share the same 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine that produces 272kW and 500Nm.
