BMW and SAP have rolled-out the first example of their technology agreement which started back in 2012…and one of its features is to advise where the cheapest coffee can be found at petrol stations along your route.

SAP developed a cloud-based system for BMW, while BMW Group Research and Technology developed in-car and backend-based software. It’s all about managing the various offers and services along a specific route as the popularity of on-line location-based services grows.

So in the current research vehicles (a BMW 7 series) you set your own preferences for customized filtering of services and offers and, along the journey real-time vehicle data is used to predict your needs. For example, when approaching a destination, a request is sent to the SAP system regarding parking information, available spaces and fees and when the reply is received, BMW’s in-car system adapts that information to you customized application settings.

You may select to filter information about refueling stops so you only receive the best prices at the pump…or the cheapest roadside cup of coffee.
