BMW Active Tourer Outdoor Concept

It’s not quite a Volkswagen Caddy but the ‘Outdoor’ version of BMW’s Active Tourer does focus on interior utility.

However this is a BMW, so while the Active Tourer Outdoor concept is all about carrying a load of weekend escape goodies (the concept car features interior bicycle racks) it is kitted-out just as you expect a BMW to be. For example we didn’t see any storage bins for couriers to store clip-boards or paperwork like you get in a Caddy.

Under the bonnet is a petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain which uses BMW’s clever 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine.

The Active Tourer concept is a clever execution from BMW – longer, taller and wider than the 1 Series, but a smidge shorter in the wheelbase – and if it makes production could loom as a rival for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
