BMW has boosted its five-model 3-Series Coupe and Convertible lineup with enhancements across the range and the addition of a new 335i M Sport model. Entry to the range remains the 320d Coupe priced at $65,600 while the new 335i M Sport coupe retails for $116,700.
Externally there are subtle changes with modified side sills, new bumpers and L-shaped taillights. On the inside, look for new colours for the Dakota leather trim and a new three-spoke sports steering wheel.
Visually, the 4.0-litre V8 M3 remains unchanged except for the new taillights.
All engines have been improved and the M3 now has Auto Start/Stop and an optional Competition Package with 19-inch alloy wheels, Electronic Damper Control and recalibration for the Dynamic Stability Control.
The two newcomers - 335i M Sport Coupe and Convertible (the latter priced at $129,900) gain a comprehensive M Sport kit including 19-inch double spoke alloy wheels, lowered sports suspension and interior upgrades including the M Sport steering wheel, anthracite headliner, M Sport doorsills and aluminium trim highlights.
Under the bonnet, the turbocharged 3.0-litre six cylinder remains with 225kW/400Nm, but economy has been boosted – now down to 8.4l/100kms (coupe). Drive is to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed double-clutch automatic.
“The M Sport brand is an icon in the world of sports sedans, coupes and convertibles and with the supreme performance and dynamic driving characteristics of the 335i already established, it was fitting to build upon that with the new 3-Series Coupe and Convertible and give the cars their own distinctive performance personality,” revealed BMW Group Australia’s Managing Director, Stavros Yallouridis. “At the same time, the whole range benefits from the redesigned front, rear and side features that give even greater emphasis to the sporting and elegant character of the BMW 3-Series Coupe and Convertible.”
