Good news for new car buyers in Australia’s continuing sales boom with lots of great deals and sharp pricing still on offer.

Last (month) Toyota Corolla was our best-selling model (4,536 sales) as the industry achieved a total of 87,342 (1.8% higher than November 2009).

Year-to-date, 948,987 new vehicles have been sold (11.8 per cent more than the same period last year) and Australia’s buoyant new car segment is set to again break one million sales in a calendar year.

“These figures show new car sales continue to outperform other economic indicators, including retail spending and business investment,” explained Andrew McKellar, Chief Executive of the Canberra-based Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

Toyota remains the market leader with 19,911 sales for the year, bringing the Japanese giant on-track for 200,000 sales for the seventh consecutive year.

Holden is second (122,479 sales for the year), ahead of Ford with 88,065. Mazda is the leading importer in fourth position with 77,788 sales (needing just 2,039 sales in December to post an all-time record).

Hyundai has already sold more cars this year (74,161) than ever before. Same for Suzuki with 22,793 sales as at the end of November.
