Like their counterparts in Europe, Toyota Australia engineers have been fine- tuning the all-new Yaris, which was previewed at the Australian International Motor Show (Melbourne) ahead of local launch in October.

The Toyota Technical Centre in Melbourne has confirmed calibration for the power steering which is more suitable for Australian conditions than those found at home in Japan.

And the local engineers also opted for the European suspension settings in Toyota’s all-new compact car – again because they deliver the more precise feedback demanded by Australian buyers.

Compared to the current hot-selling Yaris, Toyota says new engineering and design inputs, weight saving and aerodynamic improvements will ensure the all-new Yaris delivers enhanced fuel consumption and reduced exhaust emissions.

And a more rigid body shell will ensure better driving dynamics.

Despite a slight increase in overall size, the all-new models will retain the hallmark Yaris user-friendliness – for example the turning circle is a miniscule 9.4-metres.

The Yaris displayed in Melbourne showed-off dynamic new looks and a much improved interior. A more upright position for the steering wheel delivers a more sporty driving position than the current model and the seats are much more sculptured and supportive.
