Volkswagen Group Australia has announced some 8,694 Amarok pickups will commence its massive rectification program for diesel emissions.
The software update will be free and should take less than 30 minutes.
Volkswagen Group Australia has begun contacting owners of affected vehicles to arrange an appointment at their nearest dealership.
Interestingly, Volkswagen Group Australia says the software change will not result in a deterioration of fuel consumption, C02 emissions, engine performance, torque or acoustics.
From here-on the plan is to progress model-by model, initially focusing on the EA189 2.0-litre engine and, later this year the 1.6-litre powerplant.
