At CarShowroom we only cover V8 Supercars and F1, but here’s some motorsport news worth cheering…
With one week to go in the grueling Peking-To-Paris Classic Car rally, the Aussie duo of Gerry Crown and Matt Bryson were holding a 23-minute lead over a 1965 Porsche crewed by Brits Peter Lovett and Tim Smith.
The Australians are driving a 1973 Leyland P76. Yep, that’s right, the unloved boxy, large sedan is leading one of the world’s toughest cross-country adventures.
But with more than 3,000kms remaining as the teams cross Slovenia, Australia and Switzerland before hitting France and the run to Paris…well anything can happen.
Re-igniting memories of the famed London-To-Sydney rallies, the Peking-To-Paris is a true mootring adventure and Car Showroom wishes Crown and Bryson all the best as they head towards Paris in the mighty P76!
No doubt our mate who was the PR chief at Leyland during the P76 era will be chuckling at his home on the NSW North Coast.
