Purchases of 90,705 vehicles in August has Australia on-track for a record sales year.
Year-to-date some 761,440 new vehicles have been delivered and that’s 3.2 per-cent up on the same time last year.
And it’s the SUV powerhouse delivering the growth – small SUV sales are up by 51.3 per-cent over the first eight months of 2014, mid-size SUV sales are up by 15.8 per-cent and large SUV sales are up by 4.5 per-cent.
In fact, Mazda CX-5 with sales of 1,980 vehicles was Australia’s eighth best-selling vehicle in August.
For the first eight months of this year passenger car sales are down by 4.6 per-cent and light commercial vehicles sales are down by 6.1 per-cent.
For the sixth time this year Toyota Corolla was Australia’s number one best-selling model in August with sales of 3,050 vehicles.
Riding on the back of strong fleet sales, Toyota leads Mazda3 by more than 2,400 vehicles in the battle to round-out the year as number one.
Toyota’s year-to-date sales of 133,059 vehicles (57,946 ahead of second-placed Mazda with 75,113) are on-track with 2014.
Hyundai ranks number three with sales of 68,115 ahead of Holden (67,502), Mitsubishi (46,629) and Ford (45,911).
