Just in time for the hot months, Audi has expanded its 'top-down' lineup with the launch of the S5 Cabriolet.
Based on the superb A5 model, the S5 Cabriolet gets the sport treatment ('S' for sports) and is priced at $138,100.
Power comes from a newly developed supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine that delivers 245kW/440Nm and a zero to 100km/h time of just 5.6 seconds. The supercharger sits between the cylinder banks of the V6 and combines with two downstream intercoolers to pressure the direct injection engine up to 0.8 bar.
Drive is to all four wheels via Audi's Quattro system and a seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission.
The S5 Cabriolet gains firmer S sports suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 tyres and visible black brake calipers with the 'S' logo.
Externally there are new front and rear panels, a new spoiler and diffuser, sill trims and four tailpipes. Exterior mirrors have aluminium housings and there is an exclusive S5 colour - Sprint Blue pearl effect.
In side are Alcantara leather trimmed electric sports seats (extra firm S Sport seats trimmed in Silk Nappa or climate-controlled comfort seats are options). There are brushed aluminium trim finishes (including the center arm rest and gear shift paddles) and the instruments get subtle grey pointers.
Racy S5 logos feature on the door sill trims, the leather multifunction steering wheel and the instruments.
The headlining is available in two colours - silver or black. Interior inlays are available in birch wood or stainless steel mesh.
