Audi has revealed updated A4 and S4 models for 2012. While styling changes are minor - a revised corporate grille and headlights plus new taillights and bumpers, the big news is under the bonnet.
Headline news is the arrival of the 125kW, 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine. In addition the Audi A4’s 2.0-litre TFSI powerplant gain some extra urge - now up to 157kW - while the rip-snorting Audi S4 retains its 245kW, supercharged, 3.0-litre V6.
There are new versions of Audi’s 2.0-litre diesel engine with outputs up to 130kW, plus updates for the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-diesel - now up to 182kW and 204kW.
But it's not just extra grunt - Audi says across the range fuel consumption for the 2012 A4 range is 11 per cent better than its predecessor.
Helping this improvement is automatic start/stop, brake energy recuperation and a new electromechanical power steering system - all standard across the range.
Audi Australia has not yet confirmed the local lineup.
