Audi trumped everyone at the Paris Motor Show when it unveiled this stunner – the TT Sportback concept car.
Yes it’s the classic TT re-jigged to a four-door Sportback which looks absolutely sensational.
And the good news is the car shown in Paris looked virtually ready for production.
And the extra good news is under the bonnet was a 294kW/450Nm version of the turbocharged 2.0 TFSI petrol engine so performance matches the spectacular looks.
Driving through a seven-speed S tronic transmission, the Audi TT Sportback covers zero to 100km/h in the supercar time of 3.9 seconds.
Innovations abound – including a brilliant laser spotlight within each of the LED headlights which activates at speeds above 60km/h for enhanced night-time vision.
Inside, the show car ran a single 12.3 inch screen replacing the conventional instruments and MMI infotainment screen. Climate control functions were located within the actual air vents.
The show car ran frameless side windows and four individual seats.
At 4.47-metres in length the Audi TT Sportback is 29cms longer than the production TT Coupe and longer and wider but – at 1.38-metres in height, it’s actually 3.0cms lower.
Starring on the front-end is a Singleframe grille with a dark aluminium honeycombe insert which is flatter and wider than the grille on the coupe while the rear is highlighted by lights similar to the Audi R8 sports car.
We’re tipping the Audi TT Sportback will launch in 2015.
