Audi’s stunning TT RS and TT RS Roadster have gained the seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission.

With launch control and shifts measured in hundredths of a second, the new transmission improves the TT RS’s standing start performance and it now zips from zero to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

RS versions of the TT are powered by Audi’s turbocharged and supercharged 2.5-litre five cylinder engine which delivers 250kW between 5,400rpm and 6,500rpm and peak torque of 450Nm from as low as 1,600rpm. Drive is to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system - fuel consumption is 8.5l/100kms and emissions are rated at 197g/km.

The seven-speed S Tronic is not just all about performance. Audi says seventh gear is configured as a highly geared overdrive for reduced fuel consumption at cruising speeds.
