Ahead of its debut in Barcelona next month, Audi continues to build up hype of its all-new A8 limousine with a series of videos showing off its various features. As expected with Ingolstadt’s flagship, a lot of the films focus on specific technological features, and even features a cameo by Tom Holland as Peter Parker, as part of Audi’s tie-in with the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film.
The first couple of films focus on the Audi’s semi-autonomous driving capabilities, with the A8 seen parking itself in a garage and then again driving itself through a traffic jam. While the latter is becoming more and more commonplace in high-end luxury vehicles, the A8’s self-parking function appears to be more complex than what we’ve seen from Mercedes-Benz and BMW (which simply move the car in and out of a space, in a straight line, following inputs from the key fob). It appears (we stress this) that the A8 manages to reverse-park into a garage unassisted, which is mightily impressive.
The third video is the one that features Spiderman, as he takes his driving test in a “prototype” car that was given to him by someone named Tony (no prizes for guessing). The video then shows off a myriad of technology, with everything from motorway driving and autonomous parking, along with a quick glimpse at Audi’s PreSense pre-collision technology. The digital drivers’ display (which Audi called ‘Virtual Cockpit’) is also seen, along with some brief shots of the exterior.
The all-new 2018 Audi A8 will make its debut at the Audi Summit on July 11th, so stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you updates as they come.
