Part of the story behind GM’s German brand Opel walking away from the Australian market within 12 months of launching is there is an intense battle being waged between the German brands.
And consumers are the winners as the war is being fought with ever sharpening prices.
Today Audi fired its next shot with limited edition versions of the A4 and A5 with value improved between $9,000 and $8,000. For us, the standouts of the eight-model ‘Sport Edition’ lineup are the A5 Coupe and Sportback (1.8TFSI) at $70,700 – but even the entry-level A4 Sport Edition sedan (1.8 TFSI) at $59,990 is a great buy.
Only 250 examples of the Audi A4 Sport Edition are heading this way and the A5 versions are even rarer with production capped at 150 vehicles.
Extras exclusive to the Audi Sport Edition models include: 19-inch alloy wheels, MMI Navigation Plus, Xenon plus headlights and LED tail-lights (A4 models), sports suspension, sports front seats, flat-bottom sports steering wheel with paddles-shifters for the multitronic transmission and premium metallic or pearl effect paint colours.
The Audi A4 and A5 Sport Edition lineup shapes-up like this:
A4 1.8 TFSI sedan $59,990
A4 2.0 TDI sedan $62,390
A5 1.8 TFSI Coupe $70,700
A5 1.8 TFSI Sportback $70,700
A5 2.0 TDI Coupe $72,500
A5 2.0 TDI Sportback $72,500
