V6’s and V8’s being targeted this time round, but the recall is voluntary.
German manufacturer Audi has issued a worldwide recall related to diesel exhaust emissions, targeting some 850,000 V6 and V8 diesel-powered cars to implement a fix that will improve the real-world emissions of the oilers. This recall, while announced, has not yet detailed the number of cars affected market-by-market, though we expect to see this notice to affect vehicles in Australia at some point.
Audi has been working together with the German Federal Transport Authority (KBA) to roll the fix out, going further to say that they would cooperate willingly with any and all investigations into the emissions of its vehicles. It mentioned that the KBA is currently conducting a review of their vehicles, with the possibility of further action being taken against the carmaker should the KBA find anything that shouldn’t be there.
In the meantime, the recall notice intends to ‘future-proof’ cars against possible future bans, as the noose tightens around vehicle emissions throughout Europe. Audi is following in the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz, who last week rolled out a recall notice affecting some 3-million diesel cars in Europe for similar reasons.
