It’s longer than an A8. Longer. Than. An A8.
German luxury carmaker Audi have released another China-specific model, this time coming in the form of the extended-wheelbase Audi A6. Dubbed officially as the A6L, this elongated machine boasts a 100mm increase in wheelbase, making it the longest limousine Audi sells in the world. That’s right, it’s even longer than their flagship A8.
The Chinese market prioritises comfort & legroom, so the A6L will duke it out against other China-only extended-wheelbase vehicles like the BMW 5-Series LWB, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB. It’ll be offered there with either a 140kW or 165kW turbocharged 2.0-litre, though it’s understood that there’ll be a 3.0-litre V6 later on in the lifecycle.
Also coming later is the plug-in hybrid model, which will carry the e-tron badge and likely win favour among Chinese customers who might otherwise pay heftily in emissions tax. Either way, the A6L will once again go into a long-list of China-only oddities, so don’t go cancelling your A8.
