It’s been a quarter of a century since Neckarsulm released the first RS car, the RS2 Avant, which kicked off Audi Sport’s success story of building practical, high-performance road cars with full everyday usability. As a tribute to those 25 years, the company outed the “25 years of RS” anniversary package.
“All our RS models are strong characters. The RS 2 Avant from 1994 already represented our philosophy of a strong performance, individuality, and full everyday usability. This is the basis of our success story,” says Oliver Hoffmann, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “For our anniversary package, we placed the focus on individuality. The exterior and interior make reference to our first RS model, the RS 2 Avant.”
The anniversary pack will be offered on the TT RS, RS4 Avant, RS5 Sportback, RS5 Coupe, RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback models, which includes exterior changes such as matte aluminium finishes to the aero blades, side skirts and rear diffuser inserts. The Audi rings, RS logos and wing mirror covers are finished in gloss black while the wheels are finished in silver and gloss anthracite.
The interior receives minor changes too that are inspired by the legendary RS2 Avant, such as the blue-stitched honeycomb pattern in the Nappa leather and Alcantara RS sport seats and the 12 o’clock marking on the steering wheel. The TT RS, RS4 Avant and RS5 models receive this specifically.
The RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback, meanwhile, gets its RS sport seats upholstered in perforated Valcona leather with blue stitching. All the above mentioned RS cars get “25 years of RS” logos on the seatbacks, door trim, wheel centre covers and floor mats. Further, opening the door projects the special anniversary logo on the ground.
Audi Sport has started taking orders for the “25 years of Audi RS” pack in Germany and Europe with prices starting from EUR9,350 or AUD15,000. While the package is offered with a variety of colour options, Nogaro Blue (in this writer’s opinion) is the one to get.
