Audi has launched the magnificent A7 Sportback in Australia.
The lineup comprises two V6-powered models – a 180kW, 3.0-litre diesel priced at $142,750 and a 220kW, 3.0-litre petrol priced at $147,800. Drive is via Audi’s seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission and the latest crown-gear center differential Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Both versions feature a thermal management system, brake energy recuperation and start/stop to optimize fuel consumption.
Audi calls the A7 Sportback a five-door coupe and the hatchback configuration provides impressive luggage space – 535-litres with the rear seat in place or 1,390-litres with the seat folded.
Measuring 4.97-metres in length, the Audi A7 Sportback is 1.91-metres wide and just 1.42-metres long – so it’s long, low and stunningly handsome to look at. The long bonnet, long wheelbase, short overhangs and beautifully flowing and integrated C-pillar lend an athletic and purposeful appearance that’s typically Audi.
Bi-Xenon headlights and LED tail-lights are standard (LED headlights are optional). The headlights are an innovative new ‘all-weather’ system which integrates fog-lights into the main lights.
Inside is the usual Audi leather/luxury with optional climate-control/massaging front seats to really ramp-up the comfort on long trips.
The A7 Sportback debuts Audi’s latest MMI vehicle management/navigation system with simpler operation thanks to a central menu button and optional head-up display. Navigation is a hard-drive unit with touchpad operation (also used to dial telephone numbers).
Underneath, the Audi A7 Sportback runs aluminium lower control arms, Audi’s drive select chassis dynamics system (air suspension is optional) and a new fuel-efficient electromechanical drive for the power steering system.
