Audi will have fresh impetus in the premium compact sedan segment from early next year with the arrival of the all-new A3 sedan.
Carrying the same ‘dynamic/light-weight’ DNA as other A3 models, the all-new sedan version is 11mm wider than the Sportback, 9mm lower and the wheelarches are slightly more flared.
Styling is slick – coming from Audi, would you expect anything else? – the A3 sedan incorporating its boot with nice proportions and of course a sporty bootlid spoiler. Cargo capacity is 425-litres.
At launch in Europe, the all-new Audi A3 sedan will be offered with a 110kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and two petrol engines – 103kW/250Nm 1.4TFSI and 132kW/250Nm 1.8TFSI. Drive is via a six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic automatic.
Following a few months later will be the high-performance Audi S3 sedan with the 2.0TFSI engine delivering 225kW/380Nm via the seven-speed S tronic. The Audi S3 sedan gets sporty enhancements inside and out and sits on lowered sports suspension and larger brakes.
Audi Australia will definitely add the A3 sedan to the local lineup from early next year but exact details and pricing are still being finalized.
