The annual Volkswagen Group enthusiast meeting at Wörthersee kicks-off on 28 May and those ‘Boy-Racers’ at Audi have laid an early claim to best-in-show with news of the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept car.
Based on the all-new S3 sedan, the Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept car delivers a staggering 386kW from its five-cylinder TFSI engine and is bound to upset the team from Volkswagen’s head office in Wolfsburg.
“The Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept shows are car and tuning fans at the Wörthersee just how much sport potential there is in the A3 family and in our top-of-the-line engines such as the 2.5 TFSI,” explained Audi board member Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg.
Basically the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder TFSI is the same engine as fitted to Audi’s RS Q3 and in this case delivers 386kW/600Nm thanks to a larger turbocharger with 1.5 bar of boost and a modified intercooler.
Drive is to all four wheels via Audi’s seven-speed s-tronic dual-clutch transmission with launch control.
Zero to 100km/h takes 3.6 seconds (easily into the supercar league) and the top speed is 310km/h.
Underneath is a lightweight aluminium sports suspension with a ride height 10mm lower than even the regular Audi S3. Wheels are 21-inch alloys fitted with 275/25 R21 tyres and these are housed under blistered wheelarches.
