Is this a hush-hush M4 Final Edition?
If you’re a fan of the F82 BMW M4, you might want to put your order down soon. BMW Australia have announced the M4 Edition ///M Heritage Edition, though just 6 examples of the total 750 will be making their way Down Under.
Due to arrive in early 2020, these limited edition M4s are identical to the global spec announced earlier last month, made to celebrate BMW’s most popular exterior colours option, more often than not with a famous racetrack in its name. In fact, the cars are available in either Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue, and Imola Red II.
Based off an M4 Competition, these exclusive ///M Heritage M4s will be armed with the uprated version of the S55 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-6 producing 331kW and 550Nm, propelling the rear-driven coupe to 100km/h in just 4.0 seconds.
Each colour offered denotes a specific set of individual cosmetic upgrades. Laguna Seca Blue features in the Edition 1, adding full ‘Merino’ leather upholstery in two-tone Silverstone/Black with Turquoise contrast stitching.
The Edition 2 come with the Velvet Blue metallic exterior while also adding the same full ‘Merino’ duo-tone leather upholstery and trim treatment but uses Velvet Blue/Orange stitching on the sports seats.
Finally, Edition 3, by manner of elimination, receives the Imola Red II finish. ‘Merino’ leather, naturally, is included here as well while red and black upholstery material and red/yellow contrast stitch combination is perhaps the most fitting pair-up given the exterior.
All three Edition variants will also come fitted with the BMW M Carbon Roof with colour strip in the classic M colours. This motif appears again in the cabin, where gloss-finished carbon fibre is applied on various trim accent spots and a special ‘Edition ///M Heritage 1/750’ plaque on the door sills.
Each car will also receive forged 20-inch M light alloy wheels in the 666 M design and finished in Orbit Grey as standard as well as a handy wireless phone charging pad.
The emergence of this special edition could be a quiet indication that BMW are on the cusp of pulling the wraps off an all-new 4 Series Coupe, replete with styling to match the G20 3 Series and foundations built on the new CLAR platform.
Should that be the case, there’s a chance that these ///M Heritage cars are unofficial final editions for the F82 M4 and, therefore, far more collectible.
