Legendary British supercar marque Aston Martin has revealed an update to its range-topping Vanquish S grand tourer, giving it a performance boost and minor visual upgrades.
Leading the (relatively short) list of changes is the reworked engine. Building on the existing powerplant, the 5.9-litre V12 sees a 21kW advantage over the car it replaces, hurtling the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds, a 0.3 second improvement over the old car.
Aston Martin says that the power increase is down to a new, larger stainless steel exhaust system, paired with bigger inlet manifolds. The 8-speed ‘Tiptronic III’ gearbox, dampers, spring rates, and anti-roll bar bushes have also seen tweaks, all with the goal of making the Vantage S that little bit sharper.
Only the most hawk-eyed enthusiast would be able to tell the aesthetic changes Gaydon decided on, with a carbon fibre front splitter and rear diffuser marking it out from the old(er) Vanquish S. If one wishes for more carbon fibre, door mirror caps, bonnet louvres, and door releases can be requested (at additional cost, of course). There’s also a quad-tailpipe setup at the rear, two more exits than the outgoing car. There is also a set of five-spoke, diamond-turned 20-inch wheels available as an option, replacing the 20-inch cast wheels that come as standard.
The interior sees even less revision, sans an increase in the number of available trim and materials, like a ‘satin chopped’ carbon fibre finish for the centre console. The Vanquish S will be made available in both coupe and Volante (convertible, to you and I) body styles, and sees a $12,000 increase in the starting price.
