Aston Martin has announced details on the stunning Vanquish Volante which goes on-sale in a few months.
And some of the details are as stunning as its looks: the first Volante to come with a full carbon-fibre body and a 421kW/620Nm 6.0-litre V12 command attention right from the get-go.
That carbon-fibre body instantly makes the Vanquish the stiffest Volante – a requirement for optimized driving dynamics in open-top sports cars.
On top, the triple-layer lightweight fabric roof operates in just 14 seconds. Of course when it is open the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante stores the roof beneath a decklid which has been tuned for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
Other styling cues are borrowed from Aston’s One-77 supercar – the elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades. And the Vanquish Volante delivers another first for Aston Martin in the full-height windscreen (the glass running all the way to the fabric roof said to reduce visual ‘clutter’ in the design).
Inside is the expected Aston Martin prestige luxury/sports combo with abundant full-grain Luxmil leather and Alcantara and satin chrome highlights. The centre stack, console and gear selection buttons come from the Vanquish (inspired by the One-77) and some of the switchgear features illumination and ‘haptic feedback’ (as used in mobile phone touchscreens).
And the boot is massive – 279-litres with the roof up or down – in fact it’s 50 per-cent bigger than Aston martin’s previous DBS Volante.
Aston Martin has confirmed the Vanquish Volante will be priced at $297,995 in North America. Car Showroom hasn’t heard from Aston Martin’s Australian distributors for many months but the ‘bush telegraph’ is saying a December arrival ‘Downunder’ and prices have yet to be determined.
