Luxury British sports car brand Aston martin has revealed its all-new ‘halo’ car – the V12 Vanquish.
Labelled a ‘Super Grand Tourer’, the Aston Martin Vanquish – a return of a classic name – rides on Aston Martin’s next generation VH chassis architecture and is powered by a further development of the 6.0-litre V12 engine.
Design is again simply breathtaking with some cues from Aston’s limited edition One-77 – such as the LED rear light blades and elongated side strikes. Interestingly, to counteract rear lift, an ‘Aero Duct’ is included in the bootlid.
The latest version of the 6.0-litre V12 is cleaner and more fuel-efficient yet still delivers 421kW at 6750 rpm and peak torque of 620Nm at 5500rpm. Drive is via the existing Touchmatic six-speed automatic transmission and zero to 100km/h takes just 4.1 seconds.
Despite its extra size, Aston says chassis improvements and carbon fibre body panels deliver 25 per-cent extra torsional rigidity.
Inside is the hallmark Aston martin sumptuous luxury – the Vanquish will be asvailable as both a two-seater and a 2+2 – plus a surprising 368-litres of luggage space – that’s 25 per-cent more than the DB5.
“The Aston Martin range is stronger now than at any time in our 99 year history,” revealed company chief Dr Ulrich Bez. “The new Vanquish represents the perfect way to signal the beginning of our centenary celebrations next year.”
