Aston Martin Confirms Project 003 – A “More Practical” Valkyrie

Coming to you in 2021.

British firm Aston Martin has confirmed that, in addition to their already-manic Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercars, they will field one more entrant into this hallowed segment that will be more road-biased and usable. Under the working name ‘Project 003,’ it will retain hallmarks and precedents set by the Valkyrie and AMR Pro, but with “more practical concessions to road use.”

At its core, the 003 will make use of a turbo-petrol and electric hybrid powertrain, with the former taking the dominant role. The 003 is expected to pick up the KERS system that Aston Martin nicked from Rimac, which contributed in no small part to the 843kW power figure toted by the Valkyrie. There’s no mention of how much power the 003 is expected to make or how much of it will be down to the hybrid system, but it is 3-years off and they have plenty of time to talk about it.

“It was always the intention for the Aston Martin Valkyrie to be a once-in-a lifetime project, however, it was also vital to us that Valkyrie would create a legacy: a direct descendent that would also set new standards within its own area of the hypercar market, creating a bloodline of highly specialised, limited production machines that can exist in parallel with Aston Martin’s series production models. I’m thrilled to announce that this car is the Project ‘003’, and our next step into a dynamic and exacting arena.” — Andy Palmer, CEO, Aston Martin

“Next-level precision” is promised thanks to an active suspension system, as well as active aerodynamics that offer “outstanding levels of downforce.” Also, while the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro were designed to be as performance-focused as possible (read: horrible to use on anything other than a track), the 003 will “offer more practical concessions to road use, including space for luggage.”

Only 500 of these cars will be made, in both left-hand and right-hand drive, and will arrive on the market in “late 2021.”  No further details were offered, but we expect to see details dropped periodically between now and its eventual debut.
