All grown up.
Japanese automotive behemoth Toyota might have only just pulled the wraps of the kabuki-masked Corolla and brought the legendary Supra back from the dead, but it seems that the company isn’t about to lose steam soon. With the Geneva motor show all but finished, they now have their sights trained on the New York motor show that begins in a couple of weeks time.
And for NYIAS, Toyota will be bringing the all-new, fifth-generation RAV4 SUV, which they’ve teased today in a sole silhouette teaser.
While the nature of the photograph means there’s precious little to uncover, we can at least make out that the new RAV4 has grown up a bit, with a more muscular, commanding appearance than before. A rather telling lip at the trailing edge of the bonnet suggests, to this writer at least, that a prominent grille will be the main focus of the new RAV4’s face.

Beneath the RAV4, expect to find Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), as well as a range of new powertrains from the Dynamic Force family of motors. The RAV4 will likely be offered at a later date with a hybrid option, though new transmissions are a given. It was confirmed to CarAdvice that the new 5th-generation Toyota RAV4 would make an appearance on our shores sometime in 2019, though a more definite timeline wasn’t given.
