Toyota will launch the all-new Corolla range at next month’s Paris Motor Show, followed by the Australian International Motor Show (Sydney) in October, but first photos have been released from Japan.
The Corolla certainly ups the ante in the looks department – a much more dynamic appearance which reflects considerable European influence (where the Corolla is a big seller). Unlike the present lineup, Toyota’s all-new Corolla adopts a sporty, ground-hugging, aerodynamic stance which will be pleasing to Australian small car buyers.
Toyota says the local lineup will be powered by Corolla’s most powerful petrol engine – an enhanced 1.8-litre, four-cylinder. It’s a certainty fuel economy will also be improved.
Inside all-new Toyota Corolla adopts a much more modern look with new materials and colour pallet. We’re told interior space and cargo capacity are also up on the current model.
Over its 50-year journey, Toyota has sold almost 1.2 million Corollas in Australia – the model accounts for one-fifth of all Toyota vehicles purchased by Aussie motorists. Toyota’s sales and marketing chief Matthew Callachor says the all-new model will build on Corolla’s strengths.
“The strong European influence on the new Corolla embraces the spirit of ‘waku-doki’ – a car that is fun to own and drive due to its sharp styling as well as its responsive acceleration, accurate steering, engaging drive and excellent ride comfort,” Mr Callachor said.
Car Showroom will be joining the national media launch for the all-new Toyota Corolla on 19 October so look for our drive impressions then.
