Peugeot has confirmed its stylish new 508 range will star at the Australian International Motor Show (Melbourne) 1-10 July and go on-sale nationally immediately afterwards.
The handsomely styled Peugeot 508 has been a sales success in Europe since its launch a few months ago and Peugeot Australia will launch with all three variants – sedan, wagon and the hot-selling GT sedan.
Power comes from both petrol and diesel engines although Australian customers will have to wait until September for the e-HDI version of the 1.6-litre turbo-diesel (intelligent electronic gearbox control and Stop/Start for optimum fuel consumption).
In Europe, the elegant Peugeot 508 is already an award winner, rated ahead of 18 other newcomers to take the 2010 Auto Trophy from Germany’s Auto Zeitung magazine.
Jean-Marc Gales, Peugeot’s Executive Vice President said: “The Peugeot 508 marks the return of Peugeot in the large touring car segment. Its style and appeal combined with its sheer quality and new generation technologies, illustrate Peugeot’s ambitions in this category of the market.”
