Following its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show early next year, Peugeot will fast-track the all-new 4008 compact SUV to Australia for launch in the second quarter.
A close relative of the Mitsubishi ASX, the 4008 nevertheless has Peugeot style in every corner – the floating front grille, distinctive Peugeot headlights, thin DRLs, three sculptured claw-design tail-lights and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Peugeot 4008 measures 4.34-metres in length, is 1.8-metres wide and stands 1.63-emtres in height.
Inside is the usual array of stylish Peugeot soft-touch trim, lacquer-black details, LED reading lights, touch-screen navigation and a standard reversing camera.
The Peugeot 4008 will be powered by a choice of two petrol engines (85kw/152Nm, 1.6-litre or 113kW/198Nm, 2.0-litre) and two diesels (82kW/270Nm, 1.6-litre or 110kW/300Nm, 1.8-litre). Drive is via five-speed or six-speed manuals or a CVT automatic.
Peugeot says the 4008 will be sold in both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants.
In Australia, Peugeot will launch the 4008 next autumn and it will occupy Peugeot Australia dealerships alongside the existing SUV range – 3008 and 4007.
“The 4008 – in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive – will complement the existing 3008 and 4007 perfectly in the Peugeot model range and all three will be on-sale side by side. It will be our compact SUV, while 3008 is our luxury compact offering. For its part the recently repositioned 4007 will appeal to buyers who need something a bit bigger, especially if they need to tow,” explained Peugeot Australia’s marketing boss Richard Grant.
