Car Showroom will drive the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander at the national media launch in Melbourne on 10 December, but sales have already commenced nationally at Mitsubishi dealerships.
The all-new mid-size SUV follows Mitsubishi’s normal model lineup – entry-level ES, mid-grade LS and range-topping Aspire. Prices start at $28,990 ($500 less than the outgoing model). Entry to the Mitsubishi Outlander 4WD model lineup starts at $33,990 while the most affordable seven-seat variant is petrol-powered LS 4WD priced at $38,990.
Two-wheel-drive models employ Mitsubishi’s 2.0-litre MIVEC engine while four-wheel-drive buyers can choose from the 2.4-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel.
Only the entry-model ES petrol comes with a five-speed manual transmission – the rest employ a CVT automatic except the two diesel models which get a six-speed automatic transmission.
Petrol-powered Mitsubishi Outlanders offers a towing capacity of 1600kgs with the diesel models advancing to 2000kgs.
Standard safety features include seven airbags, active stability control, hill-start assist and rear parking sensors. LS and range-topping Aspire models score a reversing camera and a Premium option on Aspire model adds adaptive cruise control and the forward collision mitigation system.
LS models gain a reversing camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, privacy glass and 6.1-inch colour touch-screen audio. Third row passengers in seven-seat version will enjoy extra comfort with the seat cushion 120mm wider than the outgoing model.
Aspire goes further with leather seats, timber-accented interior trim and 18-inch alloy wheels. The premium pack adds a power tailgate and Rockford Fosgate audio with 7-inch colour screen.
