The Mini five-door, the second bodystyle of the all-new third-generation Mini has debuted in Europe.
The model lineup for the five-door mirrors the rest of the new Mini range:
• Cooper S 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine
• Cooper 100kW/220Nm 1.5-litre, turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine
• Cooper SD 125kW/360Nm 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel
• Cooper D 85kW/270Nm 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-diesel
Of course space is the thing with the Mini five-door – the 2,567mm wheelbase is 72mm longer than the standard model and this provides extra room for the three-person rear seat and 278-litres of cargo space (that’s 67-litres more than the three-door).
The five-door mini is longer overall but the same width as its three-door sibling (1,727mm). It’s also taller by 11mm at 1,425mm.
Underneath are sporty alloy wheels from 16-inch to 18-inch and the full range of Mini driving assistance technologies such as Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control and Electronic Differential Lock.
Also available are items like Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant, rear-view camera and the camera-based active cruise control.
No word yet from BMW Australia on local launch times.
